West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen said junior RB Dreamius Smith will garner more playing time and carries when he improves his blocking.
Smith broke off a 75-yard touchdown run in the second series of Saturday's game against Oklahoma, but was given just one more carry the rest of the game because he muffed a block in pass protection that led to QB Paul Millard getting drilled and fumbling the ball. "I take all the responsibility for that," Smith said. "That's one thing I'm working on to improve more is my blocking. If my blocking improves, [it means] more carries. That's what it sounds like." Holgorsen, when asked if that assessment was accurate, said: "Yes. A hundred percent." Smith, a JUCO transfer, is stuck in a loaded backfield headlined by Charles Sims, but he could become a nice piece in Big 12-only fantasy leagues if he clearly leapfrogs fellow backups Wendell Smallwood and Dustin Garrison on the depth chart.
