Baylor redshirt senior QB Bryce Petty's lower-body mechanics "were an issue coming into the season and remain a concern at this point," writes ESPN's Steve Muench.
"He doesn't reset well when moved off his spot, his weight transfer is inconsistent, and he can fail to get his hips around on outside throws -- all of which affect his accuracy," Muench wrote. "The good news is he's usually accurate and can put excellent touch on the ball when he throws in rhythm. Petty will also have to improve his ability to read defenses and adjust to a pro-style offense, but he's mastered Baylor's offense and has a great work ethic." We aren't as high on the 6-foot-3, 230-pound Petty as others. Perhaps no thrower in the country benefits more from his coaching, offensive system, and supporting cast. Under those conditions, a future first-round pick should consistently torch opponents. Petty doesn't do that, playing like a Heisman candidate in some quarters and a benching candidate in others.
