Mack Brown accepted a paid job as a special assistant to the Texas athletics department and will be paid $2.75 million over four years as part of a settlement.
"He resigned," Texas spokesman Nick Voinis said. "This is what was agreed to. We're honoring his contract." Brown is expected to spearhead fundraising efforts for UT and its athletics department, and will be compensated healthfully to do so. The school, however, saved a few pennies by parting with the veteran coach when it did, as Brown had been owed $40 million as part of an extension he signed last January that stretched through the 2020 season. Brown resigned in December after coaching the Longhorns for 16 years. Texas lured Charlie Strong from Louisville to replace him. Feb 13 - 4:44 PM
