West Virginia senior QB Will Grier will skip the Camping World Bowl against Syracuse on Dec. 28 to being preparations for the NFL draft.
Grier's 2018 season ends with 3,864 passing yards and a 37/8 TD/INT rate on 67.0% completions and 9.7 ypa over 11 games. He posted a divine 81/23 TD/INT rate over his career. He won't be in New York this evening for the Heisman ceremony, but Grier was a finalist for the Maxwell, Manning, Walter Camp and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm awards. ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Grier as the No. 5 quarterback in the 2019 class. Grier is listed at 6'2/214, but there's a decent chance that he measures in a tick shorter than that. Frame is one question mark, arm strength is another. But Grier is a former ballyhooed prep recruit made good as a prolific collegiate rhythm thrower. We'll next see him in Mobile at the Senior Bowl. With Grier out against the Orange, West Virginia will likely turn to untested sophomore transfer Jack Allison. If nothing else, the Mountaineers will find out if it's necessary to enter the grad transfer market this winter. Dec 8 - 1:14 PM
