Oregon redshirt junior WR Devon Allen (knee) is quitting football to go pro in track and field.
Allen has opted to forego his collegiate eligibility in both football and track in order to pursue the track portion of the equation at the professional level. A two-time hurdle champion, Allen placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles at the Rio Olympics over the summer. The 6-foot, 190-pound (now former) wideout appeared in just three games this season before tearing the ACL in his left knee in mid-September. He also tore his ACL in 2015. Allen closes out his Ducks career having caught 54 passes for 919 yards and eight touchdowns. The bulk of that statistical output came during his 41-684-7 campaign as a redshirt freshman in 2014. Now free from football, Allen will spend the next four years honing his track craft in anticipation of a run at a gold medal in the 2020 Olympics. Nov 16 - 3:29 PM
