High school QB and Michigan State commit Jayru Campbell has been sentenced to 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to misdemeanor aggravated assault.
The Cass Tech (Mich.) signal caller was originally charged with felony assault with intent to do great bodily harm when he body slammed a school security guard who asked him to remove a hood. That charge was dropped as part of a plea deal with prosecutors. Campbell received 15 months' probation, 75 hours community service, and was ordered to pay over $700 in fees and fines, undergo anger management and submit to random drug screenings. Campbell, a four-star recruit, is the No. 9 dual-threat QB in the class of 2015. He also holds offers from Alabama, Notre Dame and Wisconsin, and his commitment to the Spartans is not binding (nor is the offer itself, it should be added). May 30 - 11:46 PM
