Louisville HC Bobby Petrino believes redshirt junior QB Will Gardner (knee) will be 100 percent for camp in August.
If so, he should be able to easily beat out sophomore Reggie Bonnafon, redshirt sophomore Kyle Bolin and redshirt junior Tyler Ferguson for starting duties. Gardner had surgery to repair an injury to his left knee sustained in a November win at Boston College and has been recovering since. He previously twice tore his right ACL. "He's had very good work here the last month, and he's really made tremendous improvement," Petrino said. "He's ahead of schedule, but yet we're pulling the reins back and making sure that he only does what the previous schedule told him to do. But he says he's felt better than he's ever felt, better than after the first time he had surgery. The unknown is that it's a third surgery on the same knee and what happens will when he start torquing the knee, when he starts running, changing the direction. He's doing great with that, but how he responds with he starts torquing it and delivering the football is the concern." Jun 8 - 7:21 PM
