Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer announced that four-star WR K.J. Williams and three-star DB Treevon Prater failed to academically qualify and will not play in 2014.
Williams and Prater have not yet announced their intentions, but they could opt to head to the JUCO ranks for a season or attend prep school. Both will likely have a chance to return to the Orange in 2015, if they choose to do so. "Traditionally, Syracuse and Shafer have stood by most recruits who didn't qualify initially, allowing them to join the Orange after attending prep school or junior college," wrote the Syracuse Post-Standard. The 6-foot-2, 188-pound Williams, who chose Syracuse over offers from Arizona, Michigan, Missouri, Pittsburgh, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin, ranks as the No. 31 WR in the country. Jun 28 - 7:40 PM
