Boise State junior QB Brett Rypien completed 24-of-42 passes for 285 yards and an interception in Friday's 42-23 loss to Virginia.
Rypien missed Boise State's last game against New Mexico due to a head injury. While he started on Friday and looked fantastic on the team's opening drive -- capped by a five-yard touchdown run by Ryan Wolpin -- the Broncos would fizzle out with just two more offensive scores for the rest of the contest. The junior gunslinger had a mind-meld working with WR Cedrick Wilson throughout the game (at least until Montell Cozart took over in fourth-quarter mop-up duty), but that was just about the only thing the Broncos offense had going for them on the evening. Rypien has now thrown for 521 yards with an 0/2 TD/INT ratio in three games this season. He'll try to jump-start matters against BYU on October 6 after Boise State takes a much-needed bye next weekend. Sep 22 - 11:31 PM
