Vanderbilt HC HC Derek Mason "appeared giddy" to give the ball to redshirt junior RB Ke'Shawn Vaughn, according to Adam Sparks of The Tennessean.
"It’s good to see Mamba," Mason said, referring to Vaughn’s nickname. "It’s been a long time coming." A product of Pearl-Cohn, Vaughn was Tennessee's top running back recruit in 2014. He went to Illinois and fell out of Lovie Smith's plans in 2016, prompting his return home. Vaughn, who rushed for 1,024 yards and nine TDs in 22 games over two seasons for the Illini, is the heavy favorite to take over starting duties following the departure of Ralph Webb, Vanderbilt’s all-time rushing leader.
