Many people had high expectations for Masters rookie Kyle Stanley, but he was unsuccessful in his navigation of Augusta National finishing his 36 holes at 7-over 151.
In his first two rounds, Stanley showed signs of what had the experts talking by making birdies on difficult holes like the first and the fourth. His tournament came to an unsuccessful finish when he washed his approach from the fairway on the par-5 15th leading to bogey, and taking him off the number. He then missed a short birdie putt on 16 and bogeyed the 17th to miss the cut by two shots. He will now play a home game at next week's RBC Heritage in Hilton Head.

In his debut at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship, Kyle Stanley emerged with a 2-and-1 victory in the opening round over K.J. Choi in the Jones Bracket.
Stanley went out in bogey-free 1-under and held a 2-up lead at the turn. Choi flipped it with wins at 10 (birdie), 11 (par) and 13 (eagle), and held a 1-up advantage through 14 holes. Alas, he ran out of gas and played 15-17 par-bogey-bogey, handing Stanley the lead and eventually the match. The recent winner north in Scottsdale advances to face the winner of Brandt Snedeker v. Retief Goosen.

Kyle Stanley carded a final round of 6-under-par 65 and won the Waste Management Phoenix Open by one stroke over Ben Crane.
A week after his historic collapse at the Farmers Insurance Open, Stanley started the day eight strokes off the lead. He got off to a good start with consecutive birdies starting at par-4 second hole and when he added a birdie at the par-4 eighth he was four strokes off the lead. On the back nine, Stanley went on a run of three birdies in four holes starting at the par-4 11th, which earned him a one-stroke lead. He was soon tied for the lead after Spencer Levin made a 13-foot birdie putt at the par-4 14th, but on the par-5 15th a poor teeshot by Levin resulted in a double-bogey. Playing partner Ben Crane pulled within a stroke of the lead by the final hole, however Stanley got a free drop from the tents after his wild teeshot and he was able to scramble for a two-putt par for the victory. The improbable comeback is the first career victory for Stanley, plus he has earned spots in the Masters, WGC-Bridgestone and the PGA Championship.

Kyle Stanley carded a 5-under-par 34-32=66 in his second round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, arriving at the midpoint in 7-under 135, seven strokes back of the clubhouse lead.
Despite what happened last Sunday at Torrey Pines, an argument could be made that he's unflappable. He hit just 12 greens today but suffered just one bogey. Among his highlights were birdie conversions of 28'7" and 18'5" at the second and 18th holes, respectively. He also rolled in an eagle at the par-5 15th hole from 25'3". But his longest effort that found the bottom of the cup was a par save of 39'11" at the fourth.
