The great Seve Ballesteros is the only man to have successfully defended the Omega European Masters (1977-1978) but 2015 winner Danny Willett will aim to emulate the iconic Spaniard this week.
With bookend 65s and a second-round 62, Willett took the trophy last year and that added to previous efforts of T5 (2014) and T2 (2012) on the picturesque Crans-sur Sierre course set high in the Swiss Alps. Only outside the top 26 once in seven starts at the par 70, the Englishman loves the course but is struggling for recent form after suffering a dip since his brilliant win at Augusta National. Willett did post a top three in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth at the end of May but since then he hasn't bested T37 in six starts. He'll hope his close-up view of watching compatriot Justin Rose win Olympic gold will inspire him to further heights at Crans this week while his upcoming Ryder Cup debut is further incentive to sharpen his game.
