After caddieing for Richard S. Johnson in the morning wave in the opening round of the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun, Lance Ten Broeck gained entry as an alternate (when Notah Begay III withdrew), shot a 5-over-par 76, and then withdrew.
[You're excused if you missed this little tidbit. There are a few other things going on in the world of golf this week.] Ten Broeck made news last May when he caddied and played in the Texas Open. That week, he looped for his regular boss, Jesper Parnevik and beat him by three shots. Parnevik is on the shelf for at least a couple of months, which makes Ten Broeck available. Although he would have been a long shot to make the cut, he would have been pushing it close tomorrow had he teed it up anyway. He would have had a 7:20 a.m. start off the 10th tee while Johnson is slated to go off #1 at 11:55 a.m. Thu, Feb 18, 2010 06:17:00 PM
