Savio Nazareth carded a 6-under-par 33-33=66 at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. in today's open qualifier for the Wyndham Championship, and earned one of the four berths at stake into the tournament proper.
Nazareth has played two PGA TOUR events, both at Sedgefield for the Wyndham and both as a result of navigating open qualifying (2008, 2011). This time around, he converted an eagle and five birdies to offset one bogey, and then survived a four-way playoff for three spots. Tyler Rody (bogey-free, 35-31=66; six birdies) and David Sanchez (33-33=66; seven birdies, one bogey) also advanced. (Paul Brown was the odd man out of the playoff after finishing regulation with a bogey-free, 32-34=66.) Vaita Guillaume was the medalist today with a bogey-free 30-35=65 that featured seven birdies.
