Scott Brown heads to the Waste Management Open at TPC Scottsdale this week looking to make his third straight cut.
Brown made the cut in each of his past two January appearances at the CareerBuilder Challenge and Sony Open in Hawaii, but underwhelming final rounds in each appearance sent him tumbling down the leaderboard on Sunday in each event. He does have a pair of Top 10 finishes this season, however, including a solid fifth-place showing at The CJ CUP at Nine Bridges in South Korea. He is capable of piecing it together for four rounds, and his solid scrambling and putting ability should help him this weekend. Jan 31 - 9:59 PM
With preferred lies in effect, World No. 116 Scott Brown pieced together a 2-under-par 34-35=69 in the final round of the OHL Classic at Mayakoba, dropping three places to T6 on 13-under 271 with play still in progress.
This is the 34-year-old's fifth cash in six tries, third top 25 and second top 10, joining a T5 in 2016. He's 5-for-5 on the season now with three top 25s and two top 10s, currently just shy of a season-best T5 at THE CJ CUP. After opening in 67-69-66, the Augusta, Georgia, native began T3 on 11-under, four back of 54-hole leader Patton Kizzire. Playing out of the seventh-to-last threesome due to no re-pairing, he found 10 (of 14) fairways and 15 greens in regulation, posting a commercial 1.933 putts per GIR with 33 total putts. The South Carolina resident silenced a lone bogey-5 at No. 1 with three circles at 3, 5 and 7, but stalled out with 11 straight pars. Sun, Nov 12, 2017 05:14:00 PM
Overnight co-leader and World No. 125 Scott Brown coughed up a 4-over-par 40-36=76 in the final round of THE CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGES, falling four spots to T5 on 5-under 283 and dropping to 1-for-4 when leading/co-leading after 54 holes.

The Augusta, Georgia, native dropped out of the race with back-to-back double bogey-6s at holes 4 and 5, trading three birdies at 8, 15 and 16 with three squares at 7, 10 and 17 the rest of the way. This is his first top 10 of the season in three tries, with form of T62-T23-T5, and his fifth top 25 in his last eight starts. It's Brown's first top 10 since P2 at the 2017 Zurich (teamed w/ Kevin Kisner), and his first individual top 10 since T2 at the 2017 Genesis 35 weeks ago. Sun, Oct 22, 2017 07:05:00 AM
