David Lynn fired a 4-under-par 32-36=68 in the third round of THE PLAYERS, improving to 8-under 208 for the tournament.
A week after his playoff loss to Derek Ernst at the Wells Fargo Championship, Lynn find himself in the hunt once again. He circled seven birdies to just three bogeys on his third lap around TPC Sawgrass, gaining over three strokes on the field with the flat stick for the round. Highlighting his round was a birdie from 46'9" on the par-4 sixth followed by a 24'3" birdie conversion on the very next hole. As we documented earlier this week, this will be his last U.S. tournament until the PGA Championship, so expect him to leave nothing in the bag in tomorrow's finale.

After this week's PLAYERS, David Lynn is not planning to play again in the United States until the PGA Championship on Aug. 8-11.
Lynn announced after Sunday's playoff loss at Quail Hollow that he needs a vacation. He booked a trip during the week of the U.S. Open, but has played well enough that he'll eventually qualify for the season's second major. "Well, this is the problem now," Lynn said. "I wasn’t in the U.S. Open, so I’ve made other plans now. I’ve actually booked a holiday. So as it stands, I’m going on holiday." For different reasons, Anders Hansen (2011) and Paul Lawrie (2012) skipped the U.S. Open, so this is hardly unprecedented. Lynn has been a nice find for gamers, but get ready for a three-month hole if you're in a full-season format.

David Lynn spun a 2-under-par 36-34=70 in the final round of the Wells Fargo Championship to earn a spot in a playoff with Derek Ernst at 8-under 280, but he would come up short of the title on the first extra hole.
Lynn dodged everyone in the field with the exception of the rookie, who birdied the 72nd hole to force the Englishman into a playoff. In the playoff, Lynn found a hazard off the tee but managed to play his ball into a greenside bunker. He was unable to find the putting surface with his third shot, eventually allowing Ernst a two-putt par for the win. This is the second time Lynn's been a runner-up on the PGA TOUR, with his first coming at the 2012 PGA Championship. He now turns is attention to TPC Sawgrass and THE PLAYERS.

David Lynn birdied his last two holes at Quail Hollow to spin a 1-under-par 38-33=71 in the third round of the Wells Fargo Championship to join a logjam in the clubhouse at 6-under 210.
The Englishman was an afterthought when he reached the 14th tee at 2-over for his day, but holed a 3'2" birdie, then followed with a 53'10" birdie chip on 17 and a 13'1" birdie on the par-4 18th. He picked up the only top 10 of his rookie year at The Honda Classic, sharing fourth, and is in excellent shape to pick up a second top five in tomorrow's finale.
