Guan Tianlang reached the midpoint of the HP Byron Nelson Championship in 7-over-par 70-77=147 and will miss the cut.
The streak ends at two. The 14-year-old finally showed that he's human. After a tidy opener in which he traded two birdies with two bogeys, he hit just 10 greens in regulation in the second round en route to five bogeys -- all consecutively beginning at the 14th hole -- and two doubles. His lone highlight among today's pair of birdies was a conversion from 18'9" at the par-3 13th hole.

Guan Tianlang cruises into the weekend at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans where he's 3-under-par 72-69=141 after 36 holes.
Success is relative. He's nine shots off the pace of the 36-hole clubhouse lead with weekend hole locations looming, but he's 14 years of age. That he's now 2-for-2 in PGA TOUR starts is above the expectations of even the most hopeful of supporters. Tianlang has split 21 (of 28) fairways and hit 22 greens in regulation. He's wiped away five bogeys with eight birdies, including a zero-putt six-yarder from just off the green at the 16th hole today. It would be reckless to suggest that he has fantasy value, so just continue to enjoy the show.

Guan Tianlang has received a sponsor exemption into next week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
The 14-year-old from China placed 58th of 61 that survived the cut at the Masters. That may open the door for a number of opportunities to play on the PGA TOUR as tournaments would likely field considerable backlash if they burned a sponsor exemption on a golfer of his age. Despite his relative success at Augusta National, he is not a recommended fantasy investment.

Guan Tianlang signed for a 3-over-par 38-37=75 following his second round of the Masters.
The 14-year-old went 0-for-10 in birdie chances today and reached the midpoint in 4-over 148, but the news of the day is that he was assessed a one-stroke penalty for slow play on the par-4 17th hole, which he bogeyed. European Tour official John Paramor made the decision.
UPDATE: Augusta.com reported that Tianlang's threesome that included two-time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw and Matteo Manassero were put on the clock on the par-3 12th hole. "I think our group was warned once that we were out of position," Crenshaw said. "This isn't going to end up pretty, I don't think. I'm sick. He's 14 years old. When you get the wind blowing out here, believe me you're going to change your mind. I'm sorry, I'm a player. It's not easy to get around this golf course." It took all 93 golfers to post for Tianlang's fate to be known, but he survived the cut on the number for sitting 10 strokes back of Jason Day's lead.
