Steve Stricker's chances at winning the U.S. Open ended early in the final round, eventually settling for a 6-over-par 76 to finish the tournament at 6-over 286.
After a routine par at the first, Stricker hit his tee shot out of bounds right of the fairway at the par-5 second. While he wasn't the first person to do that at Merion this week, he may have been the only person to shank his fourth shot from the fairway out of bounds a second time. When the calculators cooled down, it added up to a triple-bogey eight. He would tack on four more bogeys to just one birdie, but remain inside the top 10. Jun 16 - 7:23 PM
