Defending champ and Zurich Ambassador Justin Rose sleepwalked to an even-par 34-38=72 in the second round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and at even-par 144, missed the cut by two strokes.
A total of 82 players made the 36-hole cut on 2-under 142 so a second cut of low 70 and ties will come after 54 holes. Rose opened his defense with a two-birdie two-bogey 72 that included a bogey-6 on 11, ending his blemish-free streak in NOLA at 76 holes. He began his second frame on No. 10 and went out in birdie-less 2-over 38, squaring back-to-backs on 12 and 13. The 35-year-old got on the board with birdie at the par-5 second but gave it back with bogey-4 at the third. Birdies at 7 and 8 completed his scoring.
