Beginning on No. 10 tee, World No. 12 Justin Rose crafted a 3-under-par 34-34=68 in today's final round of the Genesis Open to reach 11-under 273, up two spots to T3, one back of clubhouse leader Thomas Pieters but eight back of the leader on the course Dustin Johnson.
This was the 36-year-old's 11th appearance and second top 10, joining a T9 in 2011. After kicking off in 69-71-65, he began the final round in a four-way T5 on 8-under, nine back of Johnson. The Englishman landed seven (of 14) fairways and 12 greens in regulation, posting 1.583 putts per GIR but -0.257 SG: Putting. He circled the par-4 10th and then holed out from 194 yards at the 12th for eagle-2. Rose got so excited, he gave both shots back with bogey-5s at 13 and 15, before birdieing the par-3 16th. After the break, he outpaced bogey-4 at 4 with a two-putt birdie at the par-5 first and birdie-3 at 7. All four of Rose's birdies were from inside of six feet, but good enough for a third top 10 of the season in four starts, and possibly a third top 5. Feb 19 - 7:08 PM
