John Daly makes his seventh start of the PGA TOUR season at the RBC Heritage this week.
Because this is an invitational, there is a grandfathered provision that Daly is allowed entry into the tournament dating back to his PGA Championship at Crooked Stick way back in 1991. Others qualifying under a similar criteria that also extends to U.S. Open winners are Ernie Els and Vijay Singh. Daly has made two (of six) cuts this season with a T50 in Puerto Rico the best. That week, he turned in 70 or better in all four of his rounds.

John Daly is set to tackle Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead Course in the Tampa Bay Championship.
Daly's form is about as good as you will find these days, having played four rounds under par in Puerto Rico last week and sharing 50th. He's teed it up in Tampa seven times, with two withdrawals, three missed cuts and two finishes outside the top 50. Even with his week in Puerto Rico, that's not a great formula for confidence this week.

John Daly's 2013 PGA TOUR season will continue at the Farmers Insurance Open.
A conditionally exempt PGA TOUR member via his past wins, the bomber will make his second start of the year after finishing 74th at the Sony Open. That week started well, but a third-round 79 erased any momentum he captured in the first two rounds. In 15 previous stops at Torrey Pines, he's made one more cut than he missed including one of his five TOUR wins.

John Daly suffered through a 15-over-par 44-42=86 in the third round of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open to fall out of the top 10 and land in last at 5-over 218.
Daly has put together a solid season in his limited opportunities in 2012, so this debacle actually comes as a surprise. In his trek around TPC Summerlin, he swallowed a quadruple bogey, a triple bogey, two double bogeys, six bogeys and settled for six pars, while circling two birdies. He landed eight GIR and needed 34 putts to a 2.125 average, giving back 4.807 strokes to the field with the flat stick. He looks to try and right the ship in Sunday's finale in an effort to build momentum for future events rather than have the stench of an 86 linger.
