Troy Kelly learned recently that he has a torn meniscus in his right knee, which is likely to prevent him from competing again during the 2013 season.
Kelly is fully exempt through this season, but he didn't play in either of the last two tournaments, thus raising a flag on a guy with a 3-for-10 slate and no top 60s. Sure enough, the Kitsap Sun interviewed the 34-year-old, who added that the ACL isn't 100 percent either. "It’s kind of like the hip," said Kelly, who had surgery on his left hip in 2010. "It went from being kinda OK to not good in a hurry. ... What I’m really having a hard time with is just walking the golf course. It’s like dragging my right leg around again and I told myself I wasn’t going to hurt walking again." He hasn't ruled out surgery, but it's not planned just yet. At this point, all remaining owners are advised to let him go. When he returns, whether it's in the beginning of the 2013-14 season this fall or during the 2014 calendar year, he'll be armed with a Major Medical Extension, albeit with a hefty monetary goal.
