Paul Goydos alerted his followers on Twitter tonight that he's hoping to return to competition at the FedEx St. Jude Classic on June 6-9.
In response to a query, Goydos wrote: "If things go well this week maybe Fed-Ex St Jude's in Memphis." The last time he was asked, he was eyeing "late spring" for a comeback. He had the second of two wrist surgeries last October. When he returns, the 48-year-old will have 21 starts on his Major Medical Extension to earn $590,290 and retain status. He turns 49 on June 20.

In a response to an inquiry on Twitter, Paul Goydos provided an update of his status following two surgeries on his left wrist in 2012.
In reference to a time frame for a return to competition, Goydos wrote: "Hopefully late spring." At last check in November, he was eyeing a comeback in March or April, so consider the target bumped back 1-2 months. Whenever he returns, he'll have 21 starts on a Major Medical Extension to earn $590,290 and retain status. The two-time PGA TOUR winner will turn 49 years of age in June.

Paul Goydos was given 21 starts on a Major Medical Extension for 2013.
It's a little surprising that he qualified for that many given he played exactly 25 times in each of the previous four years. He made only six starts in 2012, so the projection was for 19 on the medical. Regardless, he doesn't expect to return to competition until March or April after having a second procedure on his left wrist in late October (or early November). Should he earn $590,290 in his first 21 starts, he'll retain status for the remainder of the season.

In a Twitter conversation with Colt Knost today, Paul Goydos shared that he's hoping to return to competition in "March/April."
The relevant excerpt is as follows: "Had another surgery 3 weeks ago. If it is the answer looking to playing March/April." Goydos, 48, was limited to six starts this year due to an injury in his left wrist. His first surgery was performed on March 13. He's a virtual lock for a Major Medical Extension offering 19 starts to bank $590,290 and retain status. As always, we'll confirm once the details are released.
