Joey Votto went 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 10-0 defeat of the Phillies.
Votto also drew two walks, reaching base in all six of his plate appearances. He boasts a ridiculous .346/.473/.531 slash line in 43 games this year and is probably the best pure batter in the majors right now. It's just gravy that the power is starting to come around.

Joey Votto went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's loss to the Phillies.
It was his fifth home run of the season and his first since April 25. Of course, it's tough to complain, as the 29-year-old is hitting .329/.457/.494 through 42 games. He has five multi-hit games in his last seven.

Joey Votto went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored as the Reds beat the Marlins on Tuesday.
Oddly enough, the RBI came on a bases-loaded walk, not one of Votto's three knocks on the evening. The first baseman still isn't hitting for much power, but he's continuing to generate offense with his ability to get on base -- Votto has now scored 27 runs to go along with his four home runs and 16 RBI. The homers should come in time; even if they don't, Votto is one of the premier offensive options in fantasy for everything else he provides.

Joey Votto tallied his third home run of the season in Sunday's 10-6 defeat of the Marlins.
Votto finished the afternoon 3-for-5 with two runs scored and is now sporting an outstanding .328/.522/.516 batting line in 19 games this season. He is likely to lead the major leagues in on-base percentage for a third straight year and good counting stats should follow.

It's merely a procedural move. Ludwick has been ruled out until early July with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

The Reds have determined that Chris Heisey's hamstring aggravation was not severe.
"It wasn’t horrendous," assistant general manager Bob Miller said. "He tweaked it." Heisey won't return until the next homestand, which runs from May 24-28, at the earliest. It's certainly possible his absence could stretch into June.

Johnny Cueto (lat, oblique) has been cleared to return to the Reds' rotation on Monday in New York.
Cueto threw five shutout innings Tuesday in a rehab start with the Low-A Daytona Dragons and deemed himself fully healthy afterward. He was placed on the disabled list April 15 with a strained right lat and then later began experiencing oblique soreness. But all is well now. The Reds haven't decided whether Mike Leake or Tony Cingrani will be demoted to clear a rotation spot.

No word on the timeline for his return, but he'll likely make at least one more appearance before being activated. Parra has an 8.10 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings prior to going down with a strained left pectoral muscle at the end of April.

Reds transferred RHP Nick Masset from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
Masset is still recovering from right shoulder surgery, and he was recently shut down after suffering a setback. The right-hander hasn't pitched since 2011.
