Alberto Callaspo delivered a two-run double in the top of the 11th to lead the Angels to a 3-1 win over the A's on Wednesday.
Callaspo also walked twice in the game. He's been playing pretty much every other day lately because of his offensive struggles, but if he can get hot, the Angels wouldn't have any reason not to start him at third base more frequently. Today's showing won't hurt.

Alberto Callaspo belted his first homer of the season Monday, launching a two-run shot while also adding an RBI single in a win over the Twins.
Callaspo has started to heat up a bit lately after a painfully slow start, putting up three straight multi-hit games while driving in at least a run in each contest. Still, with little power and speed to speak of, he makes for an unexciting middle infield option in mixed leagues.

Alberto Callapso is starting at third base in Monday afternoon's game against the Twins.
That's now two starts at the hot corner for Callapso and two starts for Mark Trumbo through the Angels' first four games. It's a situation that will probably be worth monitoring all year, with Callapso offering the better defense but Trumbo providing more power potential.

Alberto Callaspo has started at third base in just one of the Angels' first three games this season.
Mark Trumbo, meanwhile, has started in the other two. Callapso is by far the better defensive player and offers a higher career OBP, but it seems the Halos are going to employ a kind of platoon at the hot corner all year.

Iannetta had the pisiform bone removed from his wrist and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. Bobby Wilson and John Hester will fill in behind the plate for now, though Hank Conger (elbow) could be an option in a couple weeks.

Wells needs surgery and will be sidelined for at least 8-10 weeks. Peter Bourjos is due for an uptick in playing time while the veteran is out.

Langerhans will not need surgery but will still be out for an extended amount of time. The Halos have brought up Kole Calhoun for depth while Langerhans and Vernon Wells (thumb) are sidelined.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Wednesday that Torii Hunter will "likely" rejoin the team when they return home Monday or Tuesday.
Hunter was placed on the restricted list last week after his 17-year-old son, Darius McClinton-Hunter, was arrested in Texas on charges related to sexual assault. The family's lawyer previously said that the veteran outfielder doesn't plan to rejoin the team until his son's legal issues are resolved. Mark Trumbo will continue to start in right field during his absence.

LaTroy Hawkins threw Monday without a custom splint for the first time since breaking his right pinkie finger earlier this month.
Hawkins began throwing on flat ground over the weekend, but he now feels comfortable enough to do it without the splint. The veteran right-hander remains on track to return in the early part of June.

Angels transferred RHP Michael Kohn from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
It's a procedural move in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Kole Calhoun. Kohn will miss all of 2012 while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
