Billy Butler launched a three-run homer in the eighth inning Tuesday against the Red Sox, powering the Royals to a 6-4 victory.
Butler finished the game 2-for-4 and is now hitting .296/.341/.530. One of the best pure hitters in the league, he's shown an improved power stroke in the early going with six homers and 23 RBI on the season. If he can maintain the uptick in power over the course of 2012, he'll become a serious bargain for fantasy owners who got him late.

Billy Butler continued his strong start to the 2012 season on Saturday night, driving home three runs in the Royals' 5-1 victory over the Yankees.
Butler finished the night 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a walk. He's now hitting .298 on the season with five homers and 19 RBI. For years, evaluators have suggested that some of Butler's doubles would eventually turn into home runs and that he would ultimately develop into a fantasy force. Perhaps we're seeing it happen right before our eyes this year.

Billy Butler socked a pair of home runs in Wednesday's win over the Indians.
Butler tagged Ubaldo Jimenez for a two-run shot in the first before taking Jairo Asencio deep for a solo blast in the ninth. It was his first multi-homer effort since last September 5. Oscillating between the three and four hole in the Royals' lineup, Butler is now batting .292/.329/.542 to go along with 10 extra-base hits (four home runs) and 13 RBI.

Billy Butler went 3-for-4 with a double in the Royals loss to the Tigers on Tuesday.
Butler is a professional hitter and has started the season on a roll, hitting .356 (16-for-45). He's already racked up six doubles and two homers in the early going. One of these years, all of those doubles are going to turn into home runs and Butler will be an absolute force to be reckoned with.

Royals manager Ned Yost estimated that Perez is about 3-4 weeks away from returning. If all goes well, he could return sometime before the All-Star break.

Getz originally suffered the injury last week, but he aggravated it during Tuesday's game. Johnny Giovotella and Irving Falu will share second base duties during his absence.

Yuniesky Betancourt (ankle) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Thursday at the Double-A level.
Betancourt has been out of commission since May 2 with an ankle sprain. It is fully healed by now and he should be ready to return to the bigs by the end of May.

Cain originally just had a left groin strain, but that has turned into a torn hip flexor. It's a really bad injury for a base stealer and he won't even start rehab work until next week. Speedster Jarrod Dyson projects to get most of the starts in center going forward. He's hitting .321 with two swipes in his first seven appearances of the season.

Jonathan Sanchez (biceps tendinitis) is heading to the Royals' spring training complex for rehab work.
He'll eventually progress to a minor league rehab assignment. Sanchez, who was placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 8, seems doubtful to return before the end of May. He has posted a brutal 6.75 ERA and 18/22 K/BB ratio through six starts this season.

Dr. Lewis Yocum confirmed that Danny Duffy has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.
Yocum confirmed the initial diagnosis by Royals head physician Dr. Key. Duffy will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery in Los Angeles within the next two weeks and figures to miss the early part of the 2013 campaign. It's disappointing given the improvement he showed this season, but there's still plenty of promise here in the long-term.
