Although he says he'll consider a comeback if his shoulder starts to feel better, Robb Nen has decided to retire.
This doesn't really change things at all, but assuming that he is done, he finishes his career with 314 saves and a 2.98 ERA in 643 appearances -- all but four of them coming in relief. He never blew fewer than five save chances in his years as a full-time closer, but he was almost always very good. In 1998, he had a 1.52 ERA, 40 saves and 110 strikeouts in 88 2/3 IP. In 2000, he had a 1.50 ERA and 41 saves. He led the NL in saves with 45 in 2001. Sun, Feb 20, 2005 02:07:00 PM
