The Phillies reportedly are considering signing free agent reliever Dustin Hermanson.
Hermanson, who missed most of the 2006 season with a back injury, had a 7.36 ERA before being released by the Reds during spring training. His addition would give the Phillies' bullpen some needed depth.

Reds released RHP Dustin Hermanson.
The Reds still haven't finalized their roster, and it sounds like they may be picking up a player on Monday. Hermanson got off to a good start this spring, but he ended up allowing eight runs -- six earned -- and 11 hits in 7 1/3 innings. With his velocity still down, the Reds wanted him to accept a minor league assignment. Since that didn't happen, he'll become a free agent.

Dustin Hermanson was seen packing up his belongings and saying goodbye to Reds teammates on Sunday morning.
Hermanson has apparently gone from potential closer to being one of the Reds' final cuts. David Weathers is suddenly looking like a more solid pick, and Todd Coffey becomes a better sleeper.

Dustin Hermanson gave up four runs while retiring just one batter Saturday against the Marlins.
This should end the speculation that he'll ne named Cincinnati's closer. Just like at the beginning of the spring, David Weathers looks like the favorite for saves. Hermanson ended up allowing eight runs -- six earned -- and 11 hits in 7 1/3 innings.

Reds transferred OF Ryan Ludwick from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
It's merely a procedural move. Ludwick has been ruled out until early July with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

Reds trainer Paul Lessard said Wednesday that Chris Heisey (hamstring) is able to job at about "80 percent effort."
Heisey landed on the disabled list in late April due to a hamstring strain and aggravated the injury during a rehab assignment last week. His absence is expected to stretch into June.

Manny Parra (pectoral) struck out two in a scoreless inning Monday in his first rehab appearance with Double-A Pensacola.
No word on the timeline for his return, but he'll likely make at least one more appearance before being activated. Parra has an 8.10 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings prior to going down with a strained left pectoral muscle at the end of April.

Nick Masset (shoulder) is throwing from a distance of 120 feet.
Masset had shoulder surgery last September and was shut down in April after experiencing a setback with his throwing program. While he's making progress, he has yet to throw from a mound. There's no clear timetable for his return.
