"I'm looking at the end of May, sometime around the 30th or 31st maybe, to get back out there playing with the Yankees. I'm feeling great." Teixeira has been taking batting practice in the cages but still needs to take live BP on the field. "I would say the next step would be some live BP; we're not there yet," manager Joe Girardi said. "Then maybe some sim games, hopefully, then some rehab games. That's the progression, but we're still in the BP phase." May 15

Nunez recently resumed swinging a bat, but he's obviously still not feeling well enough to be playing. The Yankees will continue to roll with Jayson Nix at shortstop, with Alberto Gonzalez getting called up to provide infield depth. May 12

It's believed to be minor, but the Yankees don't want to take any chances with the 40-year-old southpaw. Vidal Nuno is slated to replace him on the active roster and will likely get a start or two. Yankees manager Joe Girardi didn't disclose any plans about a rehab assignment, but he expects Pineda to pitch in the majors at some point this summer. "We’ll continue to build him up," said Girardi. "Starters, as you know, take a lot longer than relievers because you have to get them to 100 pitches.
