Bobby Abreu could bat leadoff when Matt Kemp (hamstring) returns from the disabled list.
Tony Gwynn, Jr. is batting leadoff right now, but he's expected to move back to a reserve outfielder role once Kemp is ready to return. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly would prefer to keep A.J. Ellis in the bottom part of the lineup and Dee Gordon was recently demoted from the leadoff spot, so Abreu is the most logical alternative.

Los Angeles Times
Bobby Abreu went 2-for-4 with an RBI triple, a double and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Padres.
Abreu is now hitting .314 (11-for-35) with five doubles, one triple and five RBI since signing with the Dodgers earlier this month. While the 38-year-old is nearing the end of his career, he should continue to be relevant in deeper mixed leagues while Matt Kemp and Juan Rivera are sidelined with hamstring injuries.
May 18 - 1:12 AM
Bobby Abreu went 1-for-2 with a three-run double in Sunday's win over the Rockies.
Abreu came on in left field after Matt Kemp (hamstring) left. The 38-year-old is off to a hot start with the Dodgers, hitting .318 with four RBI in his first nine games. There's not much upside here, but he'll see regular playing time if Kemp misses time.
May 13 - 8:32 PM
Dodgers signed OF Bobby Abreu to a one-year contract.
We assume it's probably a prorated veteran minimum deal, with the Angels being responsible for the remainder of his $9 million salary this season. Abreu will serve as an occasional left fielder and pinch-hitter for the Dodgers, and he's worthy of scooping up in NL-only leagues.

Mark Ellis (leg) was released from the hospital Thursday and has begun ankle exercises.
Ellis injured his left leg when he was upended by Cardinals' infielder Tyler Greene last Friday. He underwent an emergency fasciotomy on Saturday to relieve the pressure, a procedure which likely saved his leg. He's expected to miss around six weeks depending upon the diagnosis of his knee and ankle.

Juan Uribe (wrist) has already been cleared to resume baseball-related activities.
Uribe was placed on the 15-day disabled list just one week ago with soreness in his left wrist. An MRI taken Sunday showed no structural damage and he's expected to begin full workouts Monday. The veteran infielder should be back in action by late May or early June.

Jerry Hairston Jr.
D.L.
Jerry Hairston Jr. (hamstring) is scheduled to begin playing in extended spring training games Monday.
Hairston will play in games Monday and Tuesday before being re-evaluated for possible activation Wednesday. The veteran infielder has been on the 15-day disabled list since May 7 with a strained left hamstring.

Juan Rivera
D.L.
Juan Rivera (hamstring) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment in the next few days.
Rivera was told earlier this month that his ruptured left hamstring tendon would need around two months of rehab. But he's well ahead of schedule and could return to the Dodgers' starting lineup within four weeks of the initial injury. The 33-year-old outfielder was hitting .247/.276/.358 with two home runs and 13 RBI.

Matt Kemp (hamstring) is confident that he'll return to the field next week.
He's eligible to be activated on May 29 and is aiming to do just that. Kemp was given a platelet rich plasma injection Wednesday to help speed up the healing of his strained left hamstring and has reported steady progress to this point.

Dodgers placed RHP Rubby De La Rosa on the 60-day disabled list with an elbow injury.
He was cleared to make room for the newly-claimed Matt Angle on the 40-man roster. De La Rosa underwent Tommy John surgery last August and is expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2012 season.

Matt Guerrier felt lingering discomfort in his throwing elbow during a bullpen session Wednesday.
"It's very frustrating, so up and down and back and forth," Guerrier told MLB.com. "It feels good one day, the next day I can't play catch." He's planning to shut himself down until the pain is gone completely. The setup man seems unlikely to return to the Dodgers 'pen before July.

Blake Hawksworth (elbow) is scheduled to make an appearance Thursday in an intrasquad game.
It will be his first taste of live action since undergoing surgery in January to remove bone spur and scar tissue from his throwing elbow. Hawksworth later developed an infection, which required a second procedure. The 29-year-old remains out indefinitely.
