According to William Ladson of MLB.com, Livan Hernandez still plans on playing in the majors in 2013.
The 37-year-old right-hander has won 178 games in his 17-year career and apparently wants to reach 200 victories before hanging up his cleats. After posting a 6.42 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 67 1/3 innings between the Braves and Brewers in 2012, he will probably have to settle for a minor league deal.

Livan Hernandez has opted for free agency.
Hernandez was removed from the Brewers' 40-man roster and refused a minor league assignment. The veteran right-hander posted a 6.42 ERA and 48/16 K/BB ratio in 67 1/3 innings this season between the Braves and Brewers. It's not yet known whether he intends to return for his 18th major league season.

Brewers signed RHP Livan Hernandez to a one-year contract.
With Michael Fiers pitching well and Marco Estrada (quad) due back next week, he'll slide into a long relief role. Hernandez was cut loose from the Braves earlier this month after posting a 4.94 ERA and 1.55 WHIP over 18 appearances as a long man.

Former Brewer and current Orioles minor leaguer Bill Hall has tweeted that Livan Hernandez has signed with Milwaukee.
Hall evidently ran into Hernandez at O'Hare Airport in Chicago, where the Brewers are in town playing the White Sox. It's not clear at this point whether Livan will join the rotation or work in a long relief role.

It's the first time he's done so since undergoing knee surgery. Hart admitted that the running was "awkward," but he could be ready for a rehab assignment in about a week. The assignment is expected to take a while, so it will likely be well into June before Hart is activated.

Brewers placed 1B Mat Gamel on the 60-day disabled list with a knee injury.
It's a procedural move, as Gamel required surgery in early March to repair a torn right ACL and is expected to miss the entire 2013 season. The Brewers now have an opening on their 40-man roster.

It's a move made in order to clear 40-man roster space for Francisco Rodriguez. Green is out for the season after undergoing hip surgery last month.

The left-hander should be ready for a rehab assignment after that. Assuming all goes well, it sounds like Narveson might be ready to return before the end of the month.

The 30-year-old southpaw has been one of the few dependable arms in the Brewers' bullpen this season, boasting a 2.30 ERA and 0.89 WHIP over his first 15 2/3 innings. Mike Fiers has been recalled to take his place.

Mark Rogers (shoulder) has been pulled from his minor league rehab assignment.
Rogers had a rough 11.12 ERA and 1/8 K/BB ratio in 5 2/3 innings with Double-A Huntsville and left his most recent appearance on Tuesday due to tingling in his right arm. The 27-year-old has a long injury history and began the season on the disabled list with what was termed as right shoulder instability. He has been sent back to Phoenix for further testing, after which we should know more about the next step.
