According to ESPN's Enrique Rojas, Orlando Cabrera has announced his retirement from baseball.
O-Cabs struggled to find suitors on the open market this winter after batting just .238/.267/.307 in 477 plate appearances last season between the Indians and Giants. The 37-year-old native of Colombia was a .272/.317/.390 lifetime hitter in over 1,900 major league games. He slugged 123 career home runs and tallied 2,055 career hits.

Orlando Cabrera went 2-for-4 and hit his first homer as a Giant on Friday.
Cabrera was hitting just .213/.233/.238 in 122 at-bats for his new team. It seems doubtful that he'll find a starting job this winter, though he could continue his career as a utilityman if he so chooses.

Orlando Cabrera returned to action on Sunday, singling as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning.
Cabrera is pretty much what the Giants expected he would be when they acquired him before the deadline. The veteran is batting .232 through 69 at-bats for his new club.

Orlando Cabrera is out of Friday's lineup against the Astros with a strained groin.
Ok, it's just getting funny at this point. Miguel Tejada will start in his place at shortstop Friday night and bat sixth against left-hander Wandy Rodriguez.

Brandon Crawford left Tuesday's game against the Padres with sprains of his index and middle fingers on his right hand.
Crawford suffered the ailment during a stolen base attempt in the second inning. It's not clear at this point how serious it is. The Giants should have an update on his status after the game.

Sandoval has been on the DL for nearing a week due to a left foot strain. The Giants anticipate him being ready for activation on June 26, the first day he's eligible.

Ryan Vogelsong will have an exam on Tuesday in hopes that he'll be allowed to remove two of the five pins from his surgically-repaired right hand.
"Hopefully there's some pins coming out tomorrow," he said Monday. "That's the plan, but obviously I don't know for sure until I get some X-rays tomorrow and see how things are healing." If Vogelsong is able to get the pins removed, he'll begin additional mobility exercises. The Giants are hoping to get him back in late July.

Surkamp, who is making his way back from Tommy John surgery, is expected to spend three weeks in the San Jose rotation. The left-hander could be an option for the Giants in a month or so.
