Paul Konerko went 3-for-4 with his ninth home run in Wednesday's shutout of the hapless Twins.
Konerko took Alex Burnett deep for a solo shot in the seventh inning, and is now 5-for-8 since returning from his eye injury. He's batting an eye-popping .381/.462/.633 on the year. Konerko hit a career best .313 in 2006. He's never posted a full-season OBP above .400.

Paul Konerko (eye) is back in the White Sox starting lineup Tuesday against the Twins.
Konerko hasn't played since he suffered a cut above his left eye and some swelling after when he was hit in the face by a pitch from Cubs' right-hander Jeff Samardzija last Friday, but fortunately he managed to avoid serious injury. The 36-year-old currently ranks second in the American League with a .367 batting average and first with a .453 on-base percentage.

Paul Konerko (eye) could be ready to return to the lineup Tuesday.
Konerko has been cleared of any fractures around his eye, but it's still swollen more than halfway shut. The White Sox are idle Monday, and the feeling is that the first baseman could be ready to roll Tuesday against the Twins. "It’s just a matter of getting the swelling down,’’ said Konerko. "There’s no damage, no fractures, no problems with vision other than just kind of seeing the swelling when I look out. So as soon as we get that out of the way, I’ll be good to go.’’

Konerko's eye is reportedly ''swollen shut,'' and it may be awhile before the swelling subsides. Preliminary tests cleared him of any further issues, however. For now, continue to view him as day-to-day. Konerko is scheduled to be reevaluated prior to Saturday's game.

Brent Morel will not need surgery to repair a lumbar back strain.
"My pain is more extension, so if I was to bend back or when I get in a ready position [on defense], and it's more ... called something like the facet or the knuckle around the disc, which is really good news," Morel said. "They were happy to find that out. It's never operated on. It can be controlled very easily in the training room, and by calming it down." Morel will begin new back exercises Thursday, a process he'll continue for 4-5 days. After that, he'll be allowed to hit and throw before going out on a rehab assignment.

John Danks said he is currently dealing with soreness behind his left shoulder.
Danks has been scratched from Friday's start against the Indians and is expected to be placed on the disabled list. Jose Quintana will be called up from Double-A Birmingham to pitch in his place Friday. It's clear how long Danks has been pitching through the soreness, but this would certainly explain why he has struggled so much in the early going. The southpaw hopes to return on June 4, but White Sox manager Robin Ventura seems to think he won't need a minor league rehab assignment.
