Free agent Sean Casey announced his retirement Tuesday after 12 seasons.
Casey certainly had a disappointing career after hitting .332/.399/.539 as a 24-year-old in 1999 and .315/.385/.517 the following season. He'd have just two 800 OPS seasons left in his career, and he never had a 100-RBI campaign. Still, while his power evaporated, he didn't lose his ability to hit singles. In fact, he's retiring after a year in which he hit .322/.381/.393 in 199 at-bats. He finishes up at .302/.362/.447 with 130 homers in 5,066 at-bats. Tue, Jan 27, 2009 02:10:00 PM
