WFAN's Sweeny Murti reports that retired third baseman Troy Glaus has reached out to the Yankees about a potential comeback.
Glaus, 36, hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010 and remains doubtful to make a comeback. According to Murti, free agent Cody Ransom has also expressed interest in joining the Yankees, though there's not much of a need now that Kevin Youkilis has signed.

CBS New York
Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that Troy Glaus does not intend to continue his playing career.
Olney says that he actually bumped into Glaus at the Dallas airport a couple months ago and the 35-year-old told him then that he was finished playing. It's not a surprise, as Glaus had chances to sign with teams for the 2011 season but decided instead to spend more time with his family. If he's officially done, he finishes his career with a .254/.358/.489 batting line and 320 homers over 13 seasons.

Free agent Troy Glaus has decided against signing with a team for now and will sit out the start of the 2011 season.
The 34-year-old Glaus isn't necessarily retiring, but it sounds like he could be done. "Troy had opportunities to sign with more than one club this offseason and each time he was presented with a particular opportunity, he weighed it against spending more time with his wife and family," agent Mike Nicotera said. "After a good deal of thought and discussion in each instance, he decided to pass on playing." There never seemed to be much of a market for Glaus' services, even though he, unlike most of the rest of the first base-DH alternatives available this winter, offered right-handed power. If he's done, he finishes his career with a .254/.358/.489 line and 320 homers in 13 seasons.

FOXSports.com
Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies have displayed interest in free agent Troy Glaus.
Renck suggests that Glaus could serve in a Jason Giambi mold for the club, acting as a part-time first baseman and right-handed pinch-hitter. Glaus turned in a .240/.344/.400 batting line, 16 home runs and 71 RBI over 412 at-bats this past season for the Braves after signing a one-year, $1.75 million contract. That kind of deal should do the trick this time around as well.

Braves placed INF Blake DeWitt on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain.
DeWitt appeared in four games with the Braves as a utility infielder. He should be optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett once he's deemed healthy enough to return.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) will make his first official minor league rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Gwinnett.
Beachy was cleared after he threw 29 pitches over two innings Tuesday during a start in extended spring training. He's expected to make around five starts in the minors, which puts him on pace to join the Braves around the anniversary of his Tommy John surgery on June 21. He's well worth stashing in most fantasy leagues.

Jonny Venters underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Thursday afternoon.
It's the second time he's had the procedure in his baseball career. Venters can now be ruled out for the remainder of the 2013 season and is also likely to miss the first couple months of the 2014 campaign. It's obviously a pretty big loss for the Atlanta bullpen.

Eric O'Flaherty
D.L.
Eric O'Flaherty will undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn left ulnar collateral ligament.
It was inevitable after an MRI over the weekend revealed the bad news. In addition to obviously missing the rest of this season, O'Flaherty will likely be sidelined for the first couple months of the 2014 campaign, as well.

Jordan Walden
D.L.
Jordan Walden said his right shoulder felt "pretty good" after he played catch on Monday.
It's the first time he's played catch since landing on the disabled list. Walden is shooting to return next Monday when first eligible, but we won't know if that's a realistic goal until he throws from a mound. "That’s what we’re shooting for, but it’s got to be feeling good," Walden said. "…I just need to make sure I’m fully healthy when I come back because we already have great guys down there still. I just want to be part of it down there. I want to be able to help out Craig (Kimbrel) a little bit."

Luis Ayala

Braves placed RHP Luis Ayala on the 15-day disabled list with anxiety disorder.
Obviously it's impossible to predict how much time Ayala might miss. David Carpenter has been recalled to take his spot in the bullpen.

Cristhian Martinez
D.L.
Cristhian Martinez (shoulder) still doesn't have a timetable for his return.
The Braves reliever has been sidelined since April 12 with a right shoulder sprain, and apparently it was serious enough that the Braves still don't have any idea when he might be back. The right-hander had a 3.91 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 73 2/3 innings last year.
