Reds transferred RHP Mike Lincoln from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Lincoln hasn't thrown since hitting the disabled list in early June with oblique trouble. He will be out for at least another three weeks.

Reds placed RHP Mike Lincoln on the 15-day disabled list with a strained side.
Lincoln must have suffered the injury in Monday's 12-4 blowout loss to the Cardinals. He has an ugly 7.32 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP in 19 2/3 innings of relief this season. It's not clear when he might be ready to return.

Reds manager Dusty Baker said that Mike Lincoln has been taken out of consideration for the fifth spot in the rotation.
Lincoln and his $2.5 million salary was given a chance in good faith this spring, however Baker surely saw enough after he posted an 11.37 ERA over three starts. "We're starting to narrow it down," said Baker. "We're going back to have some meetings and try and determine who is who. It'll probably go down to the wire, even if we have to use minor league games or 'B' games and things like that. As long as we get these guys their innings for endurance sake." That doesn't make the competition any less crowded. Matt Maloney, Micah Owings, Travis Wood, Justin Lehr, Kip Wells and Aroldis Chapman are all still being considered for the gig.

Mike Lincoln gave up hits to seven of the 11 batters he faced before coming out of Friday's game against the Indians.
He was charged with four runs, and it would have been worse had Matt Maloney not shut the Indians down after taking over in the second. Lincoln is a candidate to take over as the Reds' fifth starter, but that's largely because he's owed $2.5 million. On merit, he'd be an NRI right now and a long shot to make the team at all.

Reds transferred OF Ryan Ludwick from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
It's merely a procedural move. Ludwick has been ruled out until early July with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

Reds trainer Paul Lessard said Wednesday that Chris Heisey (hamstring) is able to job at about "80 percent effort."
Heisey landed on the disabled list in late April due to a hamstring strain and aggravated the injury during a rehab assignment last week. His absence is expected to stretch into June.

Manny Parra (pectoral) struck out two in a scoreless inning Monday in his first rehab appearance with Double-A Pensacola.
No word on the timeline for his return, but he'll likely make at least one more appearance before being activated. Parra has an 8.10 ERA and 7/3 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings prior to going down with a strained left pectoral muscle at the end of April.

Nick Masset (shoulder) is throwing from a distance of 120 feet.
Masset had shoulder surgery last September and was shut down in April after experiencing a setback with his throwing program. While he's making progress, he has yet to throw from a mound. There's no clear timetable for his return.
