Former major leaguer Ryan Freel has died at the age of 36, with the cause of death ruled as a suicide.
Freel was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 10th round of the 1995 MLB Amateur Draft and broke into the big leagues with them in 2001. He's best remembered for the six seasons he spent with the Reds (from 2003-2008) in which he hit .272/.357/.377 with 114 RBI and 140 stolen bases. Since his retirement from professional baseball, Freel was part of an organization that helped in the development of youth baseball players. Sat, Dec 22, 2012 10:18:00 PM
