Kyle Lohse took a no-decision after giving up three runs on 11 hits and a walk in 5 2/3 innings.
The Kemp-less Dodgers continue to hit, and this time Lohse was the victim. With four strikeouts, the veteran right-hander owns a respectable 36/9 K/BB mark, while his ERA slips to 2.91.
May 21 - 7:12 AM
Kyle Lohse said Friday that while his hamstring is still a little sore, he doesn't expect to miss a start.
Lohse was removed from Wednesday's start after his hamstring cramped up on him while he was running the bases. It sounds like he should be fine, but Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said they will continue to monitor him on a day-to-day basis. Brandon Dickson would likely fill in if the Cards need a spot-starter.

Kyle Lohse said during a radio interview with 590 The Fan in St. Louis Friday that his hamstring is fine and he has no doubt he'll make his next start.
Lohse was removed from Wednesday's outing after his hamstring cramped up on him while he was running the bases, but it sounds like it's no big deal. He'll take a 2.08 ERA and 1.02 WHIP into Tuesday's start against the Cubs.

Kyle Lohse told reporters after leaving Tuesday's game that his hamstring injury felt like a "deep cramp."
Lohse tweaked his left hamstring while running from first base to third base in the top of the fifth inning. He was able to take the mound in the bottom half of the frame, however, and should be fine for his next start. Lohse has a 5-1 record, 2.08 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 43 1/3 innings this season.

Lance Berkman
D.L.
Lance Berkman's right knee surgery has been bumped to Friday due to a conflict with the surgeon's schedule.
A scheduling conflict for a surgery is not something you hear of often, but mistakes happen. Berkman is getting a scope to determine the extent of his knee injury. An MRI showed a meniscus tear but there's a thought that the ACL might also be compromised. The 36-year-old first baseman seems doubtful to return this season.

Matt Carpenter
D.L.
Cardinals placed INF Matt Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain.
Carpenter suffered the injury on a first-inning double on Tuesday. The severity of the injury isn't yet known, but oblique injuries usually mean more than a minimum stay on the disabled list. Rookie Matt Adams should have the clear path to playing time at first base for now.

Jon Jay's (shoulder) rehab work has been limited to physical therapy thus far.
The outfielder has yet to resume any baseball-related activities and wouldn't offer an estimate on when he'll return. He's eligible for activation on May 30, but it doesn't sound like he'll be ready at that point unless he sees a major improvement soon.

Allen Craig tested his strained left hamstring on Wednesday afternoon with a bit of running.
Craig is aiming to take batting practice Thursday and will look to return from the 15-day disabled list when first eligible (June 1). The 27-year-old was batting .373/.424/.765 with five homers and 19 RBI in just 59 plate appearances before the hamstring injury. The hobbled Redbirds need him back badly.

Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak told FOX Sports Midwest on Saturday that Chris Carpenter (neck, shoulder) could start a throwing program in mid-June.
Carpenter has been progressing well through a series of strengthening exercises and should be ready to take the next step in about a month. He'll still need 4-6 weeks from the time he first begins throwing, so it's looking like a late-July return is the best case scenario. The good news is Lance Lynn has excelled as a fill-in.

Kyle McClellan (elbow) won't throw for 6-8 weeks.
McClellan was told this week by Dr. James Andrews that he does not need a second Tommy John reconstructive elbow procedure, but that doesn't mean the right-hander is guaranteed to return this year. He's been diagnosed with a strained flexor pronator and a small tear of his UCL. It's going to be a long road of rehab.

Scott Linebrink (shoulder) is currently playing catch from a distance of 90 feet.
Linebrink will stretch it out to 120 feet before throwing off flat ground. The hope is that he'll be ready to throw off a mound by the Cardinals' current seven-game homestand. The veteran right-hander has been on the disabled list all season with right shoulder capsulitis.
