Fernando Rodney was charged with a blown save Wednesday in the Twins’ win over the Astros, allowing two hits and two runs (one earned) in his lone inning of work.
Rodney coughed up a two-run lead in the ninth but was bailed out later in the frame when Max Kepler took Brad Peacock deep for a walk-off homer. For once, it wasn’t all Rodney’s fault. The right-hander obviously wasn’t sharp, but it looked like he had the save wrapped up until Brian Dozier committed a costly throwing error, allowing J.D. Davis to score the game-tying run with two outs. It’s always a roller-coaster ride with Rodney, who sports an ugly 1.93 WHIP through five outings. Rodney is still first in line for saves in Minnesota, but he probably has a short leash. Apr 11 - 6:22 PM
