Rockies signed RHP Aaron Cook to a minor league contract.
Cook was released by the Phillies on Tuesday after posting a 3.38 ERA and 5/4 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings this spring. The 34-year-old was originally drafted by the Rockies in 1997 and posted a 4.53 ERA over 10 seasons with the club. While it's possible that he'll resurface in the major league rotation soon, he'll serve as minor league depth for the time being.

Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post hears that the Rockies are "expected to discuss internally" whether to sign Aaron Cook.
Cook was released by the Phillies on Tuesday after posting a 3.38 ERA and 5/4 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings this spring. The Rockies' rotation appears set, so there might not be room for him on the Opening Day roster initially.

Phillies released RHP Aaron Cook.
The Phillies had until Tuesday to add Cook to the 25-man roster or pay a $100,000 retention bonus to send him to the minors. However, they have allowed him to test the free agent market. The 34-year-old had a 5.65 ERA and 20/21 K/BB ratio over 94 innings with the Red Sox last season.

Phillies signed RHP Aaron Cook to a minor league contract with a spring training invite.
FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi was first to report the signing. Cook is coming off a strange season with the Red Sox in which he compiled a 5.65 ERA and averaged just 1.91 K/9. The soon-to-be 34-year-old will provide insurance for the starting rotation and will make $1.625 million if he's on the major league roster.

Michael Cuddyer (neck) will play two games in extended spring training this week and is expected to be activated from the disabled list Friday.
Cuddyer will fly to Arizona on Monday night and play in games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready to go as soon as he's eligible on Friday. The 34-year-old has been sidelined since May 8 with a bulging disc in his neck.

It will be the first time he's thrown from the bump since landing on the disabled list. Francis' groin isn't fully healed, but he shouldn't be out too much longer as long as he continues to progress. Whether he'll have a rotation spot once healthy remains to be seen.

Edwar Cabrera (left shoulder impingement) threw a 45-pitch bullpen session last month.
We've read nothing further regarding Cabrera, which probably means he isn't close to a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old lefty was placed on the 60-day disabled list in February. He's eligible for activation, but not healthy enough to pitch. Cabrera ranked as Colorado's ninth best prospect by MLB.com this offseason.

Rafael Betancourt (groin) will not require a trip to the disabled list.
Betancourt left Tuesday's game with a tight right groin, but it's merely some scar tissue from a previous injury. He was given anti-inflammatory medication and could be back in there as soon as Friday. Rex Brothers and Wilton Lopez could be in the mix for save chances until he's ready to go, but it doesn't sound like he'll have a lengthy absence.
