Mariners activated C Miguel Olivo from the 15-day disabled list.
Olivo was cleared to return after playing three rehab games with Triple-A Tacoma. The veteran backstop returns to a .210/.229/.346 batting line over his first 84 plate appearances this season. He should get the majority of the time behind the plate moving forward, with Jesus Montero getting most of his at-bats of the DH spot again.

Miguel Olivo (groin) went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and two runs scored Wednesday in his latest rehab game with Triple-A Tacoma.
Olivo also caught nine innings. He's 3-for-11 over his first three rehab games and is getting very close to activation. The 33-year-old backstop has been on the disabled list since May 1 with a right groin strain.

Franklin Gutierrez (heel) threw and ran Wednesday afternoon in front of Mariners trainers.
Gutierrez is expected to begin playing in extended spring training games in Arizona on Sunday. After about a week of that, he should be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. The 29-year-old center fielder is on track for an early-June return to the major leagues.

George Sherrill is scheduled to undergo Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in early May.
He's out for the year and may just decide to call it quits. Sherrill hasn't pitched since the Mariners' Opening Day series in Japan. The veteran southpaw had a 3.00 ERA in 36 innings last year for the Braves and agreed to a one-year, $1.1 million contract with Seattle in December. He lasted 1 1/3 innings. The Mariners will go with Charlie Furbush and Lucas Luetke for left-handed relief in the short-term.
