Cody Ross hit a walkoff sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Diamondbacks defeated the Rockies 3-2 on Saturday night in Arizona.
Ross also had an RBI triple in the bottom of the first inning. He's 14-for-50 (.280) since returning from his calf strain and has tallied seven RBI in 14 games. Ross is a decent third outfielder in deep mixed leagues.

Diamondbacks activated OF Cody Ross from the 15-day disabled list.
Ross missed the first two weeks of the 2013 regular season because of a calf strain. His bat is a good fit at Chase Field and he makes for a fine third fantasy outfielder in mixed leagues now that he's healthy. The 32-year-old tallied 22 homers and 81 RBI in 130 games last season with Boston. Jason Kubel was placed on the disabled list in a corresponding roster move.

The Diamondbacks first need to determine if Jason Kubel (quad) needs a 15-day disabled list stint of his own. Ross has been sidelined since March by a calf strain.

Cody Ross (calf) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Friday.
Ross began his rehab assignment last Thursday, but Monday will be his first game in the outfield. Assuming he gets through the next few days without any setbacks, he'll be back in the D'Backs lineup this weekend against the Dodgers.

That will be two weeks after Hill was hoping to get the go-ahead to resume baseball activities, as his fractured hand is healing much slower than expected. The original timetable had him possibly returning by late May, but he probably won't be activated until well into June now.

Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers said Thursday that Adam Eaton will "probably" get a second opinion on his left elbow from Dr. James Andrews in the coming days.
Eaton was recently pulled off his minor league rehab assignment due to renewed discomfort in his elbow. Towers said an MRI showed fluid around his ulnar collateral ligament, but no new damage was found. As of now, he's expected to rest for 2-3 weeks before restarting his rehab program, but he'll get Andrews' opinion just to be on the safe side.

Daniel Hudson (elbow) gave up two runs on five hits over four innings in an extended spring training game on Friday.
It's the first time since last year's Tommy John surgery that Hudson has faced hitters wearing a different uniform. The D'Backs says the righty's fastball sat in the 91-93 mph range, which is obviously a good sign. "The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little bit brighter now," Hudson said. Hudson will appear in another extended spring game next week and doesn't appear far off from a rehab assignment. He could be back as soon as late June if all goes well, though the big club doesn't currently have room for him in the rotation.

Putz has been diagnosed with a sprained ligament, a strained flexor pronator and nerve irritation in his right elbow -- all of which can be addressed through rehab. He will try to return before the end of the 2013 season. Heath Bell has taken over Arizona's ninth-inning gig.
