Jacobs batted .286/.310/.536 in 17 games this spring as a non-roster invite. He made only 23 plate appearances in the major leagues last year and will look to continue his career as organizational depth.

Mariners signed 1B Mike Jacobs to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Jacobs made only 23 plate appearances last year in the major leagues but posted a decent .279/.362/.486 slash line for Triple-A Reno -- an affiliate of the Diamondbacks. He'll serve as roster depth in 2013 with the Mariners.

Jacobs hit .211/.348/.263 in September for the D'Backs in his first appearance in the big leagues since 2010. The 32-year-old is merely organizational depth.

Diamondbacks purchased the contract of 1B Mike Jacobs from Triple-A Reno.
Jacobs, who will turn 32 next month, hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2010 but had a nice .279/.362/.486 batting line with 18 homers over 378 plate appearances for Reno this season. He could get a few pinch-hitting chances down the stretch.

If everything goes smoothly, the center fielder should be back with Seattle early next week. He has been on the disabled list since April 23 with a hamstring strain.

Felix Hernandez wasn't sharp Sunday, allowing six runs -- five earned -- over just five innings in a loss to the Indians.
King Felix recorded eight strikeouts, but he allowed eight hits and walked a pair. The Mariners' ace left his last outing with a back issue, so it's possible it was an issue for him again today. As long as he's healthy, Hernandez is obviously a good bet to bounce back against the Rangers his next time out.

Aaron Harang was lit up for seven runs in 3 2/3 innings by the Angels on Tuesday.
Josh Hamilton and Howie Kendrick homered off him. Harang fell to 1-5 with an 8.58 ERA. The Mariners need to make a switch here, whether it's Jeremy Bonderman, Hector Noesi or James Paxton as the replacement. Erasmo Ramirez still isn't healthy, unfortunately.

Mariners transferred RHP Stephen Pryor from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Pryor now won't be eligible to return until mid-June, but he wasn't going to be ready before then, anyway. The hard-thrower recently resumed his throwing program but has yet to test things out from a mound.

Kinney has been on the shelf all season because of a stress reaction in his left shoulder and rib cage. He's likely to spend around two weeks in the minor leagues.
