According to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman, Kiko Calero is considering a stem cell procedure similar to what Bartolo Colon underwent in 2010 that would allow him to make a comeback in Major League Baseball.
Calero was out of baseball last season and hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2009. In his last stint in the minors, he finished with a 7.03 ERA over 25 relief appearances. He remains unlikely to reappear in the majors anytime soon.

The Cardinals did not offer a contract to Kiko Calero after he tried out for them last week.
SI.com's Jon Heyman heard that Calero's slider looked "good," but that the Cardinals told him their roster was full. Oh well. The 36-year-old right-hander will have to try elsewhere. He finished with a 7.03 ERA over 25 minor league relief appearances last season.

According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, Kiko Calero is trying out for the Cardinals on Thursday.
Calero signed a minor league deal with the Mets in the early part of spring training last year, but didn't see the majors at all in 2010. The 36-year-old right-hander ended up posting a 7.03 ERA over 25 appearances between Triple-A Buffalo (Mets) and Triple-A Albuquerque (Dodgers). Calero made his major league debut as a member of the Cardinals back in 2003.

Dodgers released RHP Kiko Calero.
Calero was signed to a minor league contract in June after he was released by the Mets in May. The 35-year-old right-hander managed a 3.00 ERA over 15 appearances with Triple-A Albuquerque.

Juan Uribe was scratched from Sunday's lineup with tightness in his back.
It's precautionary, as Uribe is available off the bench. He should be fine to start in a day or two.

Carl Crawford
D.L.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Carl Crawford's left hamstring strain is "fairly significant" and the outfielder will be out longer than 15 days.
Mattingly had said previously that he didn't think Crawford would miss as much as a month, so we're probably looking at around a three-week absence. Scott Van Slyke will continue seeing the bulk of the playing time in left field while Crawford is out.
Jun 6
2
Scott Van Slyke
D.L.
Dodgers placed OF Scott Van Slyke on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder bursitis.
Van Slyke initially suffered the injury in late May but had been playing through it. It's poor timing for Van Slyke, as he had been slated to receive regular at-bats while Carl Crawford and Matt Kemp were out. It's not clear how long he'll be sidelined.

Matt Kemp (hamstring) will not be activated during the Dodgers' current roadtrip.
That means we can rule out his return until at least June 24. Kemp was originally aiming to return sooner, but the Dodgers slowed down his timetable after he had a minor setback last weekend.

Josh Beckett said he'll undergo season-ending surgery if rest and rehab for a nerve issue in his pitching arm doesn't work.
The right-hander noted that he's "absolutely" confident he'll pitch this season, but there's a level of uncertainty involved. He'll be shut down for the next four weeks before trying to throw again. If Beckett does ultimately need an operation, he expects to be ready for next season.

Chad Billingsley
D.L.
Dodgers transferred RHP Chad Billingsley from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot for Scott Van Slyke on the 40-man roster. Billingsley had season-ending Tommy John surgery last month and will likely miss the early part of 2014.

Chris Capuano
Sidelined
Chris Capuano (lat) threw four scoreless innings in his first rehab start Friday with Triple-A Albuquerque.
He allowed one hit, no walks, and had five strikeouts. Capuano, currently on the DL with a left lat strain, is expected to rejoin the Dodgers' rotation on June 19 against the Yankees.
Jun 15
7
Ted Lilly
D.L.
Ted Lilly received an epidural in his ailing neck on Tuesday.
The Dodgers are hoping it will allow Lilly to recover from his neck sprain a little faster. At this point, the left-hander has no timetable for a return.

Scott Elbert will undergo Tommy John surgery on his left elbow.
Elbert had a pair of surgeries on his elbow over the offseason, but obviously neither of them wound up working. The Dodgers are giving him a 12-16 month timetable, so it's possible he could miss all of 2014, as well.
