Mike Gonzalez struggled in his Brewers debut on Friday, allowing two runs on three hits in his inning of work.

Gonzalez struck out one in the outing. Most of the damage came via a two run double off the bat of Carlos Gonzalez. He's expected to serve as the primary left-hander in the Brewers bullpen this season, and could even be in the conversation for saves should John Axford face another bout of extreme wildness. Braun is dealing with a nerve issue in his right hand, and the Brewers are hopeful that the symptoms will subside with some extra rest. If they don't, he'll just have to play through the ailment. "If it gets better, he'll start swinging again and then take BP," manager Ron Roenicke said. "Maybe when he comes off, it will go away. If not, he'll have to play and fight through it." The left-hander has yet to pitch five innings during any of his four rehab outings and has allowed 14 runs -- 12 earned -- over his last 11 innings.
