Angels reassigned RHPs Chad Cordero and Kevin Johnson and OF Matt Young to minor league camp.
Cordero has been sitting in the low-90s this spring, which is encouraging. He also put up a 19.06 ERA and 3.00 WHIP over seven Cactus League appearances, which is not encouraging. The 30-year-old right-hander is attempting a comeback after nearly two years away from the game due to shoulder woes. He'll report to Triple-A Salt Lake to start the season.

Chad Cordero was knocked around for six runs over two-thirds of an inning in Monday's loss to the Athletics.
Ouch. Cordero allowed five hits and hit a batter in the nightmare outing. The 30-year-old right-hander is attempting a comeback this spring after nearly two years away from the game, so he can't afford too many clunkers.

Chad Cordero hit 91 mph with his fastball Monday in his Cactus League debut with the Angels.
Cordero surrendered a home run to light-hitting shortstop Brendan Ryan, but he retired the other three Mariners hitters he faced. The 30-year-old right-hander hasn't appeared in the major leagues since 2010, primarily because of shoulder problems. He is likely to open the 2013 season at Triple-A.

Angels signed RHP Chad Cordero to a minor league contract.
Cordero didn't pitch at all in 2012 and hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010, mostly due to shoulder issues. The former Nationals closer did not receive an invitation to spring training, so he'll obviously start in the minors and hope to earn a promotion at some point.

Peter Bourjos (hamstring) continues to receive treatment in Arizona, and will rejoin the team when they return to Anaheim on Monday.
Even the most optimistic of time frames have Bourjos returning to the lineup at the end of May or beginning of June. Hamstring injuries can be extremely detrimental to players like Bourjos who rely so heavily on their speed, as they tend to linger and pose a high re-injury risk. J.B. Shuck will continue to see additional time in left field while Bourjos is sidelined.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said it's possible Jered Weaver (elbow) could be activated after his appearance at extended spring training on Wednesday.
That would put him in line to rejoin the rotation early next week, which would be a little earlier than expected. Weaver is coming back from a fractured left (non-throwing) elbow and appears to be fully healed, so it's all about getting his stamina up at this point. The Los Angeles Times' Bill Shaikin speculates that he could replace Joe Blanton in the rotation.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said that Tommy Hanson would "most likely not" start on Saturday in Kansas City.
Hanson has been away from the team since early May due to the death of his step-brother. The Halos were hoping he'd be ready to rejoin the rotation on Saturday, but he needs to get some work in at extended spring training first. The right-hander seems like to return sometime next week.

Ryan Madson (elbow) will move his rehab assignment up to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday and will remain there for "several weeks."
Madson thinks he's ready to be activated now, but the Angels have decided to slow things down in order to avoid re-injury. The reliever said he respects the team's decision but thinks he can "pitch here today and get people out. That's just how I feel." It sounds like he won't join the Halos' bullpen until sometime next month.

Kevin Jepsen (triceps) is expected to begin a rehab assignment early next week.
Jepsen has been sidelined since April 12 with a strained right shoulder, but resumed throwing from a mound last weekend and hasn't had any setbacks. He remains on track to return from the DL sometime later this month.

Angels transferred LHP Andrew Taylor from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Taylor was diagnosed with a small tear in his labrum last month. While he won't need surgery, it's unclear how long he'll be sidelined. The 26-year-old posted a 4.27 ERA and 56/25 K/BB ratio over 59 innings between Double- and Triple-A last year.
