Aaron Miles has retired from baseball.
Miles was batting just .235/.297/.338 in 75 plate appearances this season for the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate. The 35-year-old diminutive middle infielder tallied 793 hits during a nine-year major league career. He won a World Series title in 2006 with the Cardinals.

Dodgers signed INF Aaron Miles to a minor league contract.
Miles is already at the team's complex in Arizona, presumably to participate in extended spring training. He will likely soon head to Triple-A Albuquerque in the hopes of eventually joining the major league roster. The 35-year-old infielder batted .275/.314/.346 in 490 plate appearances last season for the Dodgers.

Aaron Miles' agent told MLBTradeRumors.com Thursday that his client is still hoping to play this year.
Miles failed to attract interest on the free agent market this winter and spring after batting just .275/.314/.346 in 490 plate appearances last season for the Dodgers. The 35-year-old middle infielder isn't much of a defender either and could struggle to find a minor league deal.

Aaron Miles went 2-for-6 and hit a go-ahead homer in the top of the 12th against the Rockies on Saturday.
The homer was just Miles' second of the year. Unfortunately, it didn't count for a whole lot in the end, as the Dodgers blew a two-run lead in the bottom of the 12th and lost in 13. Miles had been hitting just .224/.263/.290 during the second half.

He's yet to test out his hamstring by running, which is no surprise since he's barely over two weeks into his 4-6 week timetable. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly stressed that the club will make sure Hanley's hamstring is fully healed before bringing him back.

An MRI on Jerry Hairston Jr.'s knee has revealed tendinitis.
Hairston is on the DL with a left groin strain, but it appears that the knee might be a bigger issue at the moment. However, he still played in an extended spring training game Monday, so it appears that it's not a significant setback. He could still be ready to return before the end of the month.

Dodgers placed RHP Josh Beckett on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 14, with a left groin strain.
Manager Don Mattingly said after Beckett's start Monday that the groin ailment was minor, but the Dodgers will play it safe. He seems likely to be activated when eligible or shortly after. Matthew Magill seems likely to get a start in Beckett's place, and Ted Lilly (rib cage) could be ready next week.

The move clears a spot for Scott Van Slyke on the 40-man roster. Billingsley had season-ending Tommy John surgery last month and will likely miss the early part of 2014.

Shawn Tolleson is scheduled to undergo surgery on his injured lower back on Thursday afternoon.
Tolleson was placed on the disabled list April 15 with a lower back strain and now needs surgery to repair the injury. He is expected to be sidelined for 3-5 months and could feasibly miss the rest of the season.
