David DeJesus went 2-for-3 with his fifth home run as the Cubs beat the Rockies on Wednesday.
DeJesus led off the game with the bomb, and he's now hitting a tidy .290/.362/.516 through 38 games. He's not the most exciting player in baseball, but he's managed to score 24 runs hitting ahead of Starlin Castro and Anthony Rizzo in the Cubs' lineup. The big fly Wednesday was DeJesus' first this month.

David DeJesus is homerless in 11 games this month.
DeJesus slugged four dingers in April, but that power outburst was not meant to last. The Cubs' center fielder has never tallied more than 13 home runs in a season.

David DeJesus went 3-for-5 with a homer and a double versus the Giants on Friday.
After a 2-for-21 start, Dejesus has gone 7-for-17 with three doubles and four runs scored in his last three games. With his lack of home run power and stolen base ability, he doesn't have a whole lot to offer fantasy leaguers. Still, he's a solid platoon guy for the Cubs.

David DeJesus is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Pirates.
Instead, Dave Sappelt will make the start in center field against Wandy Rodriguez. DeJesus has really struggled against left-handed pitching in recent years, so it appears that the Cubs will go with a platoon in center field in the early going.

He's also throwing from 120-130 feet and is expected to start swinging a bat early next week. Clevenger is on the 60-day DL and won't be eligible to return until mid-June. He should have no trouble being ready at that time, though he's not a given to return to the big club.

Matt Garza (lat) will return from the disabled list to start Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
Garza threw six scoreless innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Iowa earlier this week, so he shouldn't be on a strict pitch count in his season debut and will provide an immediate upgrade to the Cubs' rotation. His return means Carlos Villanueva will be relegated to a bullpen role.

Scott Baker (elbow) did some light tosses from a distance of 45 feet Monday.
It was Baker's first time throwing since he was shut down near the end of spring training with a right elbow strain. The Cubs will know a lot more about his timetable once he starts to build up his workload.

Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Tuesday that Arodys Vizcaino (elbow) is a couple weeks away from appearing in a game.
He is presumably referring to an extended spring training game. Vizcaino, who will continue his rehab with the Cubs rather than at the club's spring training facility, is expected back around midseason.
