Edwin Jackson allowed three runs on seven hits in seven innings of work on Wednesday, falling to 1-2 in Washington's 4-1 loss to the Phillies.
He struck out four and walked two. E-Jax got off to a shaky start, but settled down after allowing two runs in his first three innings of work. The quality start was his third in his past four outings, and leaves him with a 3.38 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 50/12 K/BB ratio through 58 2/3 frames. He'll get the Marlins in Miami on Tuesday.
May 23 - 11:12 PM
Edwin Jackson yielded one run over eight innings Friday against the Orioles as part of a tough-luck no-decision.
Jackson struck out eight, walked one and gave up five hits. While he owns a solid 3.31 ERA through eight starts, he hasn't won since his second start of the season on April 14. He'll hope to change that when he takes on the Phillies in his next scheduled start Wednesday.
May 18 - 11:28 PM
Edwin Jackson tossed five innings of three-run ball as part of a no-decision in Cincinnati Sunday.
Jackson struck out four, walked none and gave up five hits. He was in line for his second win of the season, but Henry Rodriguez blew a save. It continues a theme of bad luck for Jackson this season, as the Nats have given him meager run support all year. He gets the Orioles next time out.
May 13 - 9:09 PM
Edwin Jackson turned in a solid effort against the Pirates on Tuesday, allowing just two runs and three hits over seven innings of work.
Jackson fanned five and walked just one in the game. He's pitched very well from the back end of the Nationals rotation, with a 3.49 ERA and 34/9 K/BB ratio through his first 38 2/3 innings. He can't do it all himself, though, and will need more run support if he wants to improve on his 1-1 record when he takes on the Reds in Cincinnati on Sunday.

Wilson Ramos said Wednesday that he expects to undergo surgery to repair his torn right ACL in 2-3 weeks.
Ramos also confirmed to reporters that he has no chance of returning this season. Jesus Flores has taken over as the Nationals' starting catcher and deserves to be owned in mixed fantasy leagues with spots for two backstops. Ramos batted .265/.354/.398 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 25 games this season.

Sandy Leon
D.L.
Nationals placed C Sandy Leon on the 60-day disabled list with a high right ankle sprain.
Leon suffered the injury just four innings into his major league debut Monday when he was involved in a collision with Padres' third baseman Chase Headley at home plate. The timetable for his return isn't clear, but he isn't eligible to come off the disabled list until mid-July. Carlos Maldonado has been called up from Triple-A Syracuse to take his place on the active roster.

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Thursday that Chris Marrero had a setback with his shoulder.
Marrero was already rehabbing a torn left hamstring, but the shoulder injury means he might not be ready to play again for another month or two. The 23-year-old batted .248/.274/.294 with five doubles and 10 RBI in 117 plate appearances for the Nationals down the stretch last season.

Mark DeRosa (oblique) threw and took dry swings Thursday.
DeRosa did both at about 50-60 percent, so he's being eased into baseball activities. He will travel with the Nationals on their upcoming road trip and could return from the disabled list late next week.

Michael Morse
D.L.
Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Michael Morse (lat) will "for sure" be ready to be activated from the disabled list for the series against the Red Sox on June 8.
It's possible he'll be back before then. "There's some people thinking it might be accelerated ahead of that," Johnson added. "We'll see on Friday how he comes out of that game." Morse will play in his first extended spring training game on Friday, the first game action he's experienced since being shut down on April 11 with a torn right lat muscle. He'll play in two more extended spring games before joining one of the Nats' minor league affiliates to begin a short rehab assignment.

Jayson Werth
D.L.
Nationals manager Davey Johnson indicated Monday that because Jayson Werth had surgery so quickly after suffering a broken left wrist, he might be able to cut three weeks off his recovery time.
Werth was told the news by the doctor who operated on his wrist at the Mayo Clinic. The timetable was originally estimated to be around 12 weeks, but there's now a chance that he could return to action in late July or early August. There's still a long way to go, but it's about time the Nationals got some good news on the injury front.

Drew Storen (elbow) is aiming to return to the Nationals around the All-Star break.
We heard earlier this week from manager Davey Johnson that Storen could begin a minor league rehab assignment later this month, but it doesn't sound like that's the case. The closer made 100 light throws in a game of catch Wednesday, and there's currently no timetable for his return to the mound. Henry Rodriguez will continue to close until Storen is ready, assuming he hasn't lost the job by then.

Brad Lidge threw a bullpen session Wednesday for the first time since undergoing hernia surgery on May 1.
Lidge could head to the team's spring complex in Viera, Florida on Thursday and should soon be ready for a minor league rehab assignment. The veteran right-hander is currently aiming to return from the disabled list on June 15.

Updating a previous item, Ryan Mattheus has been diagnosed with a partial tear in the plantar fascia in his left foot.
Mattheus was apparently given the news when he visited a specialist Tuesday in Baltimore. He'll need to wear a walking boot for a few weeks, but should be able to continue some lifting and throwing while his foot heals. He is headed to the disabled list while Chien-Ming Wang (hamstring) will replace him on the active roster.

Nationals placed RHP Cole Kimball on the 60-day disabled list with a right shoulder injury.
Kimball underwent major shoulder surgery last July and is not expected to be ready for live action until right around the All-Star break this year. The 26-year-old right-hander will likely be stationed at Triple-A Syracuse once he returns to full health.
