Alex Rios went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the White Sox beat the Red Sox on Tuesday.
The double was Rios' 11th of the year, and he's now hitting .306/.369/.559 this season. As is his history, this was supposed to be a down season for the 32-year-old, but he's bucking the trend thus far. He now has 26 RBI through 44 games.

Alex Rios went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk Friday, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.
Rios opened the season on fire, homering in four straight games from April 5-9 and collecting hits in 10 straight. A three-week slump followed, but he's gotten it going against lately. The homer tonight was his fourth during his hitting streak.

Alex Rios went 0-for-4 on Thursday and is in a 6-for-41 slump at the moment.
After an outstanding first week and a half, Rios hasn't had a multihit game since April 11. He had seven extra-base hits and eight RBI in his first nine games and three extra-base hits and five RBI in the 18 since.

Alex Rios went 1-for-3 with his fifth home run of the season against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
After putting up strong numbers last season, Rios was supposed to have a down year in 2013. I guess nobody told him that. Rios is now hitting .351 with three stolen bases to go along with his five homers. With no down year in sight, Rios is one of the better dual-threat outfielders in the game.

Gordon Beckham (hand) started at shortstop Monday in his third rehab game with Triple-A Charlotte.
Beckham played shortstop in college and as a prospect, but he has never done so in the majors. Of course, Alexei Ramirez is in the second year of a four-year, $32.5 million contract, so there would have to be an injury or a trade for him to get a look there with the big club. Still, it's an interesting development. Beckham is hitting .462 (6-for-13) with one double and two RBI over three rehab games and should be activated this weekend.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the White Sox have placed infielder Angel Sanchez (back) on waivers.
Sanchez, a Rule 5 pick, has been on the disabled list for a little over a month with a lower back strain and is seven games into a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte. If he goes unclaimed, he will be offered back to the Angels.

Chris Sale has been scratched from Wednesday's scheduled start against the Red Sox due to mild tendinitis in his left posterior shoulder.
It's obviously a tough break for Sale's fantasy owners, but the good news is that the move is viewed as precautionary and he's expected to be ready to start next Tuesday. Hector Santiago will get the ball Wednesday in Sale's place. He'll be pitching on three days' rest.

Gavin Floyd underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament and flexor muscle in his right elbow.
The surgeon told the White Sox that the operation "could not have gone better." However, since he needed two major areas operated on, the recovery is expected to be 14-19 months rather than the standard 12 months for Tommy John surgery. With that timetable, Floyd probably shouldn't be counted on for a whole lot in 2014. He'll be a free agent over the winter.

White Sox transferred LHP Leyson Septimo from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Septimo has been out all season with a left shoulder strain. He's begun a rehab assignment but now will not be eligible to return until May 22.
