Zack Greinke allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings and struck out four Wednesday in his return from a broken collarbone.
That was good enough to get him a win in what ended up being a 3-1 game. Greinke threw 83 pitches to get his 16 outs tonight. The only damage against him came on an Adam LaRoche homer.

Dodgers activated RHP Zack Greinke from the 15-day disabled list.
Greinke will get the ball on Wednesday against the Nationals. The righty will be limited a bit pitch count-wise since he threw just 80 in his lone rehab start. Greinke was expected to miss eight weeks with a broken collarbone but wound up missing under five.

Zack Greinke (collarbone) will be activated from the disabled list to start on Wednesday against the Nationals.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly on Monday hedged about the possibility of Greinke returning Wednesday, but it was viewed as likely all along. The right-hander threw 80 pitches in his rehab start, so he'll be limited a bit from a pitch count standpoint Wednesday. Still, it's obviously a much-needed immediate boost to the Dodgers' rotation.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said the club is undecided on where Zack Greinke (collarbone) will start on Wednesday.
Greinke's stamina is built back up enough, but the Dodgers are worried about him re-injuring his healing collarbone in another mishap. A decision on the right-hander's status will obviously be made soon.

Hairston is on the DL with a left groin strain, but it appears that the knee might be a bigger issue at the moment. However, he still played in an extended spring training game Monday, so it appears that it's not a significant setback. He could still be ready to return before the end of the month.

Dodgers placed RHP Josh Beckett on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 14, with a left groin strain.
Manager Don Mattingly said after Beckett's start Monday that the groin ailment was minor, but the Dodgers will play it safe. He seems likely to be activated when eligible or shortly after. Matthew Magill seems likely to get a start in Beckett's place, and Ted Lilly (rib cage) could be ready next week.

The move clears a spot for Scott Van Slyke on the 40-man roster. Billingsley had season-ending Tommy John surgery last month and will likely miss the early part of 2014.

"But he's going in the right direction," the skipper added. Elbert has made four rehab appearances, but it appears he's not terribly close to being activated from the disabled list.

Shawn Tolleson is scheduled to undergo surgery on his injured lower back on Thursday afternoon.
Tolleson was placed on the disabled list April 15 with a lower back strain and now needs surgery to repair the injury. He is expected to be sidelined for 3-5 months and could feasibly miss the rest of the season.
